§ 2.04.020. Expenditures for training and orientation of supervisors-elect.

  • Pursuant to Government Code Section 25208.4, expenditures of county funds for training and orientation of persons elected to, but who have not yet assumed office as members of the board of supervisors, are authorized as an appropriate and permitted expenditure of county funds.

    Upon the written request of a supervisor-elect, the chairman of the board of supervisors shall determine whether the particular program of training or orientation is of sufficient merit to be deemed proper and beneficial to the exercise of supervisorial duties by a newly elected supervisor. Upon making a favorable determination, the chairman may authorize issuance of advanced payment for the program, or advise the supervisor-elect to seek reimbursement through normal claims procedures.

    Appropriate county charges for training and orientation of supervisors-elect shall include the payment of seminar, conference or course fees; travel, lodging and meal expenses in accordance with established county policy; course materials; and consultant services.
