There is created a county department of planning and building and an office of director
of planning and building to head the department. The director of planning and building
shall be appointed by the board of supervisors as a civil service position, at a salary
to be set by the board. The department of planning and building shall function as
the planning agency of the county pursuant to Title 7, Chapter 3 of the Government Code, along with the board of supervisors and planning
commission, as set forth in Section 2.24.010 of this title. The department of planning and building shall also function as the
administrative entity responsible for the coordination of review and decision-making
and the provision of information regarding the status of all applications and permits
required by Titles 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 of this code, as required by Government Code Section 65913.3.
